What to Expect at Closing

You’ve found the home, your offer was accepted, and now you’re almost at the finish line.

Closing is where everything comes together — paperwork is signed, funds are transferred, and you officially become the owner of your new home.

What happens before closing?

Before closing day, there are a few important steps happening behind the scenes:

Final loan approval
Your lender will finalize your loan and confirm all documents are in place.

Home inspection & repairs
Any negotiated repairs should be completed before closing.

Title work
A title company ensures the property is clear of liens and ready to transfer ownership.

Final walk-through
You’ll have a chance to walk the home one last time to make sure everything is in the condition you expect.

What happens on closing day?

On closing day, you’ll sign the final paperwork and complete the purchase.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Review and sign documents
  • Pay your closing costs and down payment
  • Confirm loan details
  • Transfer of ownership is recorded

Once everything is complete, you’ll receive the keys to your new home.

What should you bring?

To keep things smooth, make sure you have:

  • A valid photo ID
  • Funds for closing (typically via wire transfer)
  • Any required documents from your lender
